Registration Has Closed.
Members of Colonial Homeschoolers are eligible to participate in our group testing. Under North Carolina law, each home school registered with the Department of Non-Public Education (DNPE) must have a nationally standardized achievement test administered and results maintained annually for each homeschool student age seven (or turning seven during the current school year) and older. Colonial Homeschoolers seeks to help its members complete this requirement by sponsoring a group administration of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills for its members each spring. This test is a two day test and attendance both days is required. One parent from each family must remain on site during testing to help with various tasks. These could include logistics (setting up tables and chairs the evening before and being available the morning of as well as resetting the rooms at the end of testing), data entry, proctoring, assistant proctoring, nursery care, hall or playground monitor, etc. Several assistant coordinators & a pizza coordinator are needed to help with preparation & registration. Childcare and preschool will be provided for children who are too young to participate in testing.
**Big changes to 2016 testing!!!** We are switching to the new IOWA E test which is updated and more colorful AND takes less time to administer!!! We will be finished by noon on both days!! Thursday lunch is on your own that day (if you want to get together with other testing families, there are nearby parks you could meet at.) Friday it has been requested that we continue with the ever popular pizza lunch before dismissing! FINALLY, it has been requested every year by some high school students that they be allowed to finish their test on Thursday. With the shorter test time, this option is being offered. Each parent of high schoolers (9-12) will be able to choose which they feel is the best fit for their student. These students will need to bring a lunch to eat before continuing with 2nd half of their test.
Registration for testing 2016 is open thru March 31, 2016.
Date: May 19 and 20, 2016, 8:00am-12:00pm. Attendance is required on both days (with the exception of high school students who opt for single day testing.)
Cost: Testing is $44.00 per child. The cost for younger siblings in the nursery or preschool is $5.00.
NOTE: The deadline to register is March 31, 2016!
Many volunteers are needed to help the two days of testing run smoothly. We are asking parents to share in the workload. One parent from each family must remain on site during testing to help. In the registration, the student can be registered for testing; parents will be able to select their first, second and third choice of volunteer opportunities; and children can be registered for childcare. Once this registration is complete, parents will receive a confirmation email. This email will confirm your student’s spot in the testing event as well as serve as your receipt. Payment for student testing and childcare (if needed) will be taken in the registration.
